Moms Quilts

My mom lovingly hand made each of these blankets for me and my family. One of them, the pink green and cream colored afghan was made as a wedding present when I wed my husband 20 years ago.

Some have been made for and given at the birth of a baby. Each child has their own hand made quilt or blanket from Mimi. They keep us warm and snuggly not just because they are blankets but because they were made with such love and kindness.

The last one my mom made and gave us took 80 hours of work. I get teary eyed thinking about the time and thoughtfulness that went into these beautiful creations.

We use our blankets every single night. I love my blankets more than any other possession I own, except maybe pictures of my babies. I guess I wll give them to my children or grandchildren one day, but only if I know they will treasure them as much as I do, I think they will.

I am always amazed and a little sad to see handmade quilts at thrift stores. How could someone possibly give something so precious away? Never! These are family heirlooms, I pray they will be passed down for many generations to come.
